Still not back in the swing of things...

Have 38 unread messages in my yahoo account. tried for almost an hour before I could get into the blog as i had forgotten my username... haha! that's what happens when you start one and go away and don't write in it for almost a month.

China was good but quite tiring as tours usually are. Food in that region is generally not to our liking. Since it's inland, there's hardly seafood but veggies are fresh. We got the same fish staring at us at every meal and halfway through, no one touched the fish anymore. The peppercorns are something else... tongue-numbing. was quite surprised that we came back unscathed by any untoward incident. toilets were not too bad either although they practise the don't-flush-tissues-into-toilet-but-throw-into-bin-provided so most smelled rather funky. no major shopping except for decorative items for our house.

mum and uncle were in town over the weekend. was nice although felt it was too short since I had full day of classes on Sat.

TJ is just so funny...
Mum: what was the name of the boy you played with the other day?
TJ: it was "eat what"
M: "Eat what?". No, no, his name was Che Mat.
TJ: That's what I said... "Eat what".
M: Che Mat la...
TJ: Hai loh... sek mat mah....
Mum, uncle & Mel : ????

house coming together nicely... Teong's guys finally came and did the kitchen and all but finished the touching up which they will be doing today. Hubby is happy using the bannisters. yay! even the furniture that we sent for stripping and varnishing has come back. good job, i must say. solid surface to be installed on sat together with water filters and tv antenna. curtains ready by beginning of next month. will be going over tonight to clean the cabinets and wardrobe so can start putting stuff in.

last nite went with hubby for my inaugural toastmaster's meeting, not that i'm planning to join. was just accompanying him and to watch Shu Wei doing his ice-breaker. He was quite good. all-in-all, it was a good session. If I was looking to improve my public speaking skills, I would definitely join this club. The people there are quite an inspiration. 80% of them don't speak English well but they do have the confidence to carry it off.

Today's news: M'sian Police want to take away driver's licence for those who commit road offences like beating the lights and speeding (40kmph over the speed limit) but did they stop to consider how they're gonna take away the licences of those whose licence is embedded in their MyKad? Are they then gonna be allowed to go around without an IC. Sometimes, they don't think about these things before they say it and it's reported in all the dailies. Makes them look a bit stupid, dontcha think?

Mel out...
