Things my daughter does that makes me laugh and love her more...

She rocks and sways (and sometimes headbangs) to almost any kind of music, but without fail to the theme song of 'Grey's Anatomy'. She could be nursing or doing something but when that tune comes on, she'll look up, smile and start rocking.

Sorry, don't know how to rotate the video

She hums tunelessly but in rhythm to people singing and she sometimes does so very loudly in church. I don't know whether to blush with pride or embarassment.

When in an affectionate mood, she'll hug me around the neck and kiss me full on the mouth, eyes closed some more. Starting young? You don't say! Daddy better have a way to keep a reign on her when she starts dating.

She twirls her feet round and round and pumps her arms up and down when she's excited (and that includes upon seeing me return from work).

Her babbling of "Buerh", "Buh", "Ba", "Bai", "Ma", "Pa", "Mum". MIL thinks she'll start talking early since she's such a whiner.

She is absolutely terrified of being put to sleep in her cot but loves sleeping on the sofa downstairs. Before falling asleep, she will roll about in her cot, bang her head on the mattress and whine. I have an absolutely hilarious video of her falling asleep sitting up with her feet sticking out of her cot but it's too dark to see anything when I upload it. Here's a photo instead

She always has a smile for everyone and if she's in a cranky mood, just singing "Twinkle, twinkle little star" will definitely elicit a smile from her.

She has good dexterity and an incredibly strong grip (she once lifted a melamine chair with one hand).

She has an extremely good appetite and eats really quickly. Thank God!

Water baby

My daughter was made for the high life....

Watch my little tail-less mermaid in action. She was really paddling furiously and didn't seem to mind the water entering her eyes, mouth and nose.

Trigger happy!!

I got my first birthday present of the year from hubby on Saturday. It's a Canon Digital Ixus 850IS and I love it, love it, love it!

It's got a 2.5" LCD, image stabiliser, quick startup and high ISO. Best of all, it's got a wide angle lens so no more having to push my back up against the wall to take group photos in a cramped room. So far, we've put it to the test and it produces great photos even in low-light conditions. And unlike my 3-year old Nikon Coolpix 3700, I can even edit the videos here. Also, no more harsh flash lighting. I hated using the flash on my old camera 'coz of that. It even auto-rotates in playback mode which I think is so cool! Now, with a 2GB SD card, I no longer need to download my pics and videos so frequently.

The cons? Flimsy battery door panel (feels cheap and not spring loaded), no quick review button (have to change the mode) and the original case is ugly to say the least. But these, I can certainly live with.

Thank you baby!

Fed on Grain and Love

After a series of postponements, hubby and I finally went for our long-delayed "pak toh" session last week. Since we're cutting down on our carbo, we decided to try out FOGAL meat market at Plaza Damas.

The verdict? Not too bad. I liked Khim's lamb burger which at less than RM15 was value-for-money. Came with a huge pattie, fries and coleslaw. Pic didn't turn out too well though.

Mine was a mixed platter, priced at RM35, that came with a steak (I asked for pork steak but they forgot and gave me beef instead), a choice of 2 kebabs and 2 sausages, a huge helping of salad and mash. I found the sausages too salty though.

We ended the meal with a sticky date pudding drenched in caramel and served with vanilla ice cream. Yummy! I would go back just for that. And if I'm not mistaken, that cost less than RM10.

Hubby kept commenting that the place lacks ambience but hey, with a name like that, whaddaya expect?

Oh yes, I cooked for mum & my inlaws last Wednesday. Attempted making a souffle again and this time with cream cheese and mushrooms and without following any recipe in particular and I'm proud to say that it was the piece de resistance of the meal! It turned out very light and fluffy at the top and creamy on the inside... Now, that's what I call a souffle! However, was busy putting Nat to sleep when the meal started so no pics.

Culinary adventures in Parkville

On Saturday Hubby & I decided to flex our culinary muscles. He'd been bugging me to make a souffle for him since MIL gave him a cookbook from UK last November and says it's his childhood dream come true to be able to eat one.... Whatever....

Anyway, we gathered a few willing guinea pigs in the form of Val, Keat and Shu Wei and ended up with guacamole with cream cheese, honey-glazed roast chicken and hot crab souffle. I made the guacamole & souffle.

I shall spare you the pics of the chicken. Taste-wise it was fine but the glaze was a bit dark so didn't look too good in the photo.

Hot from the oven

Looks good if I may say so. Hubby absolutely loved it but I thought it was so-so only. Somehow the crab taste was almost non-existent. A disappointment to say the least. From its name, I had expected it to be bursting with the taste of rich seafood.
Ah well... I'm glad I managed to fulfil someone else's gastronomic fantasies...

Gigi Susu!!!

Finally remembered to take pics of Nat's two little lower incisors after they first emerged a few weeks ago. However, she was furiously pulling away the whole time since she absolutely hates being touched on the face. It didn't help that my camera's battery was taking so long to recharge after every shot.

toothy grin
