It's a boy!

Sometime in the 1st trimester of my second (or you could say, third) pregnancy, Hubs and I decided that we would wait till the birth to find out if we were expecting a boy or a girl. After all, it wasn't as if we could change things and if we could, it wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
We would love the baby just the same.

Hubs had always iterated that it didn't matter to him, and I believed too, that he had no preference. As for me, although I would have liked a sister for Nat (because my own sister is precious to me), I also relished the thought of having a pair. So yeah, I was also impartial.

We had already gone through the motions of having a child 3 years before so we jointly agreed to add an element of surprise to this pregnancy. People asked how we could stand not knowing and my reply was "Why not?". It was just a matter of time before the fact was known.

Now I'm glad we waited. For months everyone speculated... based on the difference in pregnancy symptoms, the way I carried, the shape of my expanding belly, my looks (while MIL said I was "uglier" this time around and hence it's boy, another friend said that I looked just the same and so, a boy it will be). The odds were against me having another daughter. Truth be told, I enjoyed the growing suspense.

The day finally came and what with the drama during labour, it slipped our minds to find out what gender the baby was immediately after its birth. We were just so incredibly relieved to hear the cry as the doctor (not my regular one, at that!) extracted him from my womb. When Hubs suddenly noticed the presence of external genitalia and made the announcement, I felt that I had subconsciously & instinctively known it all along.

So we now have a son and his name is Adam.
